RiverEdge Park Blues Island and Music Garden has been selected as the APWA Chicago Metro Chapter 2014 Public Works Excellence Award winner.  The APWA explains that this award acknowledges the project that defines excellence and the advancement of the profession of public works.

The Chicago Metro Chapter of the American Public Works Association recently announced its 2014 award winners.

On Friday, September 6th WBK joined the Kane County Division of Transportation at its ribbon cutting ceremony for the South Street Pedestrian Underpass.  WBK was recognized for its contributions on this project, including project planning and design.  Learn more about the South Street Pedestrian Underpass Project.

Tunneling for the Kane County Division of Transportation’s 140-foot long South Street Tunnel has broken through the east side under Randall Road.  WBK provided Phase I and Phase II structural and civil engineering of this bicycle/pedestrian tunnel under Randall Road. The project is approximately 1,200’ in length and includes a 140-foot long, 12-foot inside diameter concrete jacking pipe that was bored and jacked in place.

The DuPage County Countywide Stormwater and Flood Plain Ordinance was awarded the Stormwater Management Project of the Year Award at last week's Illinois Association for Floodplain and Stormwater Management (IAFSM) Conference.

WBK assisted IDOT District 2 in the​ analysis of alternatives for a 365-foot long retaining wall system along US Route 20 in Jo Daviess County. The high embankment, steep slope and soft soil limited the types of retaining structures that could be utilized. Working with the geotechnical sub-consultant, a precast modular retaining wall was selected as the best solution for the site conditions. River Street in Batavia is now open to traffic - both pedestrian and vehicle. WBK provided construction observation services on this exciting project.

The additional lot at the St. Charles Public Library recently opened and is being used by library staff, allowing patrons use of lots directly adjacent to the entrance.  This new lot added 30 parking spots

The Bob Leonard Riverwalk adjacent to the Brownstone in downtown St. Charles is now  open! WBK was selected by the City of St. Charles to provide preliminary and final engineering services for this section of the Riverwalk. The project is an extension of the Bob Leonard Walkway which was designed by WBK in 2009 and constructed in 2010. This project involved reconstruction of the multi-use path and riverbank stabilization along the west side of the Fox River between Indiana Street and Prairie Street.
