Busse Woods Reservoir – South Dam Modification Project given Outstanding Civil Engineering Achievement Award

The Busse Woods Reservoir – South Dam Modification project has been given the Outstanding Civil Engineering Achievement Award. The award is given by the Illinois Section of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE).

WBK Engineering developed the project approach, planning and design and resident engineering for construction of the dam modification to the Busse Woods Reservoir for flood risk mitigation.  “Working together, this project and the long range vision for flood mitigation infrastructure across two counties, was realized.  The Village of Elk Grove Village was the driving force in seeing that every hurdle was overcome,” said John Wills, President of WBK.

“The Busse Dam modification project is helping to alleviate flooding in both Cook and DuPage Counties.  Elk Grove Village as well as the many communities downstream along Salt Creek are benefitting from the reduction in flooding,” according to the project owner, Elk Grove Village, Illinois.

This award is presented to the engineering project within the ASCE Illinois Section that exhibit greatest engineering skills and represent the greatest contribution to Civil Engineering progress and Mankind.  Award winners will be honored at the 2016 ASCE IL Section Awards Gala to be held on October 13, 2016.
