DuPage County contracted with WBK Engineering, LLC (WBK) to provide professional engineering services including design, modeling, surveying, inspection, and permitting assistance for drainage projects on an on-call basis. The County found that numerous drainage projects arise throughout the year, ranging from extensions of storm systems to complete design of new systems, and its staff needed assistance in bringing these projects from concept to construction in a timely manner.

Two recent Phase II projects include replacement of the culverts for First Street and Glenrise Avenue over Tributary #2 of the East Branch DuPage River. Both projects included structural design of reinforced box culverts. WBK prepared final engineering plans, specifications, estimates and permit applications for the waterway crossings. Permits were obtained from DuPage County, the US Army Corps of Engineers, and Kane-DuPage Soil and Water Conservation District. WBK also prepared a drainage analysis for an
area of recurrent flooding and proposed plans for a storm sewer drainage improvement. WBK Engineering, LLC (WBK) was responsible for the following tasks on this project:

• Perform surveying services including topographic survey, as-builts, preparation of easement documents and survey layout
• Hydraulic analysis of existing and proposed culverts and storm sewers
• Preparation of engineering plans, specifications and estimates for drainage projects
• Preparation of permit applications to local and federal regulatory agencies
• Prepare drainage investigations for areas of historic flooding

As part of this various-various contract, WBK has also performed in-depth structural inspections of various stormwater facilities which includes but is not limited to the Wood-Dale Itasca Flood Control Facility, Fawell Dam, Spring Creek Reservoir Spillway and Elmhurst Quarry Flood Control Facility. Detailed inspection reports were completed for each location, documenting inspection findings and providing repair, maintenance and design recommendations.
